Bicycles and New Regulations: Type Approvals for Lighting Devices
In Germany, bicycles must be equipped with type-approved lighting devices in accordance with the German Vehicle Regulations (StVZO). A recent update allows bicycles to be fitted with front and rear direction indicators.
These indicators must comply with UN ECE Regulation No. 50 or No. 148, while the installation must meet the requirements of UN ECE Regulation No. 74.
