🎥 Fatigue Strength Testing of an Automotive Suspension Coil Spring – Behind the Scenes at ALEE
At ALEE, we place great emphasis on verifiable safety and reliable test results.
In this video, we showcase a fatigue strength test of an automotive suspension coil spring performed in accordance with VdTÜV Leaflet No. 751.
🔧 The requirement:
Coil springs must withstand at least 500,000 load cycles on the test bench without failure – a crucial proof of durability.
🤝 Strong partnership for reliable results:
These tests are carried out together with our partner laboratory thyssenkrupp Automotive Systems in Essen, which operates advanced dynamic testing systems for chassis components.
🛠️ Why this test matters – especially for aftermarket products:
Aftermarket suspension springs require a national component type approval under §22 StVZO, issued by the German Type Approval Authority (KBA).
A fatigue strength test according to VdTÜV 751 is one of the essential elements for this approval.
In addition, several vehicle-based tests are performed to confirm proper fitment, compatibility, and safety in real use.
🚗 Supporting manufacturers with safe and compliant products:
Together with our partner laboratories, ALEE supports manufacturers throughout the testing and approval process, ensuring that safety-relevant chassis components meet all regulatory requirements.
