This Friday is a key deadline! Starting November 1, 2024, all German national individual vehicle approvals under § 21 StVZO and Article 45 of Regulation (EU) 2018/858 must meet the latest EU design requirements.
👉 Reminder: If your inspection is complete but waiting on final approval, ensure it’s done by October 31, 2024!
As a KBA-designated technical service, ALEE is here to guide manufacturers and stakeholders through these new compliance requirements. National individual approvals in Germany fall under state authority, typically issued by local registration offices for vehicle categories M, N, and O under Article 45 of Regulation (EU) 2018/858, and for all other categories per § 21 StVZO. (In Hesse, Fulda or Marburg-Biedenkopf handle these approvals.)
The 56th Amendment of the Straßen-Verkehrs-Zulassungs-Ordnung (StVZO), effective June 20, 2024, now requires compliance for all national individual vehicle approvals by November 1, 2024:
• Passenger cars, buses, trucks, and trailers (M2, M3, N2, N3, O): Annex II, EU Framework Regulation 2018/858.
• Agricultural and forestry tractors, trailers, and towed interchangeable equipment (T, C, R, S): Annex I, EU Framework Regulation 167/2013.
• Two-wheeled vehicles and light three- and four-wheeled vehicles (category L): Annex II, EU Framework Regulation 168/2013.
