Ensuring Compliance for Vehicle Type Approvals with ALEE and X.Cert GmbH
To obtain type-approvals for vehicles or vehicle parts, manufacturers must successfully complete the manufacturer’s initial assessment by the type-approval authority, specifically through the KBA (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt). This assessment verifies whether the approval-relevant requirements for quality assurance in production and CoP (Conformity of Production) testing procedures are established.
There are several options for the initial assessment:
– Audit carried out by German type-approval authority KBA or by Technical Service Category C
– ISO 9001 Certificate (accepted by KBA only if approval-relevant requirements are confirmed and the certification body is designated as Technical Service Category C)
– Confirmation by another European type-approval authority
